Autumn 2 2023
We had lots of fun recounting our experiences of Bonfire Night, and making wonderful pictures showing all the different fireworks we had seen. We learnt lots of new words which helped us to describe the sounds the fireworks made, like ‘whoosh’, ‘bang’, ‘fizz’.
We started our PE sessions in the hall, and we had to practise different ways of moving around the hall, using different parts of our bodies. We explored all the things our bodies could do, like hop, jump, balance, roll etc and used beanbags and balls to practise throwing and catching.
Our Christmas preparations began, with lots of rehearsals for our big Christmas Singalong, where we invited our parents and carers into school to join us! We learnt about Advent, and learnt the story of the very first Christmas and the birth of Jesus!
Our main story focus was the Gingerbread Man, and we loved joining in with parts of the story, and pretending to be the different characters from the book.
We explored all the celebrations from different faiths, made Diwali pictures and learnt about the Jewish festival of Hannukah. We even tasted pancakes for our snack!
Our writing area turned into a post office, and we wrote letters to Santa and then posted them in our special class postbox! The elves said they all got delivered!
Our parties and celebrations were so much fun, and we tried our best to make sure we were on the nice list for the big day!
